Send a Note or a Letter - Help Snail Mail Make a Comeback

Do you remember the days when going to the mailbox was exciting?  You may have been waiting for a letter from a pen pal or a package from a relative, but it was a little thrill of anticipation.  Nowadays, we try to write as little and as fast as possible.  Even our words are shortened:  Thank you is thx; Birthday is bday; and I hate you is ih8u.  Let's bring back that old-fashion tradition by sending a note or letter with really long words to someone you care about today.  If you need help getting started, read this article for tips and suggestions to write a phenomenal letter.

The first step is to select the person.  You probably have someone in mind already, yes?  Think of a shared experience with this person and begin your letter reminiscing about this experience, good or bad.  Be as detailed as possible with your memories.  The more you write about an experience, the more you'll probably remember about it.  First paragraph done!

Next step is to let the person know what you've been doing with your life.  You can keep this brief or go into great detail.  This will depend on what you've been doing and who will be reading your letter.  Maybe you're doing charity work or learning to play piano or potty training your youngest.  That last possibility will even get you some much needed sympathy.  You'll have something going on in your life that you'll want to share.

Lastly, you should ask questions about the life of your recipient.  If you know the plans he or she has in the works, ask about them.  Most everyone does something besides eating and sleeping.  Ask about work, school, pets, kids, projects - the stuff you want to know about from your person.

Sign your name, add a P.S. if you'd like and you're all set to address the envelope and send your note or letter on its way.  Once you have completed your first letter, you'll feel proud and hopefully, want to do it again.
